Four Honored by NECC; Team Garners Sportsmanship Award

The Lynx garnered several honors in today's release of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) All-Conference teams and postseason awards. Sophomore John Gosnell (Toronto, Canada) and junior Tyler Plourd (Canton, Conn.) were named Second Team All-Conference while junior Ryan Genua (Prospect, Conn.) and sophomore Rob Parson (Commack, N.Y.) were each named NECC Honorable Mentions. The Lynx also were honored with the NECC Team Sportsmanship Award.

Gosnell was second on the team with 19 RBI and a .416 on-base percentage while drawing a team-high 12 walks. The junior hit .311 in 30 games for the Lynx, scoring 14 runs and hitting six doubles.

Plourd was the team's leader in RBI, driving in 24 runs in 30 games. The junior swiped three bags and knocked seven doubles while compiling a .308 batting average. The right fielder finished second on the team with 32 hits.

Genua logged a team-high 43.0 innings for the Lynx, finishing with a 2-3 record with two complete games and 23 strikeouts. The captain's best start came in a masterful performance in which he tossed 8.1 innings, allowing just two hits, two unearned runs, while striking out seven.

Parson joins Genua on the Honorable Mention list after a year in which he set several Lynx records. The sophomore set new highs in at bats (112), runs scored (28), hits (39), and tied his own record with 11 steals. The lead-off hitter was second on the team with a .348 batting average and led the team with eight doubles.

The Lynx were also honored with the conference Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive year and finished with a program record 13 wins.
