Kate Doherty joined Lesley University in December of 2022 as the Head Athletic Trainer, with a determination to elevate the Sports Medicine Department to higher standards and provide the Lynx student athletes with greater access to healthcare specialists.

Doherty arrives at Lesley with a wealth of knowledge and experience from a multitude of industry settings including public and private secondary schools, elite youth leagues, and semi-professional leagues. Her tenure has carried her from the novice stages of youth summer camps to the sidelines of state championships, to volunteering at semi-pro exhibition games, through the COVID-19 pandemic as a state tester and over to assisting professional leagues, Kate has been fortunate to have some amazing experiences.  She has been privileged to work with organizations such as, Celtics Summer Camps, Jr. Bruins Camp, Bay State Games, NEFC, Seacoast United, and the PWPHL.

Early on in her college career, Kate was a member of the University of Miami Women’s Crew Team, receiving gold medals at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Championship and the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Championship. Her boat proudly brought home the bronze medal at Nationals.

A board-certified Athletic Trainer, Doherty graduated with her Bachelor’s in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from Merrimack College. She went on to obtain her Master’s Business Administration with a concentration in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. Additionally, she received her Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA) certification from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrator Association (NIAAA). She served as the Public Relations Representative for the Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts (ATOM) for three years.  Kate also holds additional certifications with ImPACT, NFHS, SafeSport, and NIAAA.
