Rojas Named Lesley Women's Volleyball Head Coach

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University Director of Athletic Dan Campagna has announced the appointment of Yamileka Rojas as Head Coach of the Women's Volleyball program, effective August 16. Rojas joins the team from the Lesley office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Justice (EDIJ) as the Manager of the Urban Scholars Initiative.   

"I am beyond grateful to be an inclusive leader at Lesley University, and now the Head Coach of the women's volleyball team," said Rojas. "Thank you to AD Campagna for granting me the opportunity. Lynx nation is about dedication and determination, and I believe each player on our team will successfully deliver this season."  

Rojas plays semi-professional volleyball out of the Stonewall Sports club serving as the Beach Volleyball Team Captain. Stonewall Sports is an LGBTQ+ and Ally not-for-profit sports league that strives to develop a well-connected and diverse community through organized competition and social or fundraising events.  

She also played recreationally out of the Boston Ski & Sports Club (BSSC), serving as a team captain for her indoor squad.   

"We're very excited to welcome Coach Rojas to the Lynx athletic family," said Campagna. "Her passion for the sport was clear and it was even more evident that she will enrich the student-athlete experience for everyone."   

Rojas is a 2017 graduate of Massachusetts College on Liberal Arts (MCLA) in North Adams, Mass. where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Public Relations and Communications. At MCLA, she was a recipient of the Margaret H. Hart Scholarship and graduated Magma Cum Laude. She went on to attend Merrimack College, earning a Master of Education in Higher Education in 2019 with a concentration in Leadership & Organizational Development.  

The Lesley Women's Volleyball program opens the 2023 campaign on Tuesday, September 5 on the road vs. Fitchburg State University at 6:00 PM.
