Lynx Alum Selected to Lead Men’s Soccer

Lesley University Athletic Director Stephanie Smyrl, announced the hiring of former Lynx captain Stephen Siragusa as the next men's soccer head coach.  "I want to thank Athletic Director Stephanie Smyrl and the rest of the search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the soccer program that I played for, at a University I am proud to have attended," said Siragusa.

"We are thrilled to have Coach Siragusa join our staff and be the next leader of the men's soccer program," says Director of Athletics Stephanie Smyrl.  "To have such a high caliber alumna with deep roots and pride in the Lesley University mission is exactly what we need to become a conference championship contender.  We are excited to see him back in Lesley colors," she concluded.

Siragusa comes back to Lynx nation at the top of the helm after being an assistant for the past nine seasons.  He served a one year stint as an assistant coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology, helping guide the Leopards to a conference semi-final appearance, and nearly doubling their overall record.  He spent much of his coaching career as an assistant coach at Curry College (2011-2016), where he helped lead the squad to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinals four times.  His main responsibilities included recruiting and scouting, and he also implemented a twice-a-week study hall for the team.   After Curry, he joined his alma mater for two seasons and helped guide the Lynx to two New England Collegiate Conference tournament births, including a semi-final appearance in 2017.

The 2011 graduate was a four-year starter for the Lesley men's soccer program, captaining the side his senior season.  Arriving in just the second year of the program's existence, he helped turn the Lynx into a championship contender, making the conference tournament in all four of his seasons.  He was named to the All-Conference team in both his junior and senior campaigns.

"Lesley is a school that has provided me with success both on and off the field, and I'm excited to lead the next generation of student-athletes," Siragusa concluded.  "I know the program had success last year.  I am looking forward to building on that with the returning group, and work to bringing championships back to Cambridge in the future."

Since 2017, Siragusa has been working with SFC Winchester, where he has worked with both the 2007 Boys and 2002 Boys teams. He is a member of the United Soccer Coaches (USC) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
