Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency on Tuesday March 10th as the number of Coronavirus cases continues to increase in Massachusetts. Lesley University is monitoring the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) closely and intensifying its response in regards to Gov. Baker's latest declaration. The health, wellbeing, and safety of our student-athletes and staff, as well as members of our extended community, is always first.
On March 11, 2020 the Office of the President released Lesley University will remain open, but extend Spring Break to Sunday March 22, 2020. University personnel will prepare to begin undergraduate and graduate teaching and learning online until further notice effective the week of March 23, 2020.
It is in the best interest of our student-athletes to suspend all meetings, practices, scrimmages, games (conference and non-conference), and travel effective immediately until further notice. The Lesley Athletics Department will continue to follow institutional polices set forth by the Office of the President, and post all necessary updates on our website.
The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) will be proceeding on a campus-by-campus basis, as determined by the Athletic Directors meeting earlier this week. All NECC members will follow institutional decisions set forth by its respective presidents, and the NECC presidents and athletic department leadership will continue regular communication and adapt if necessary. The leadership team will make decisions on a conference level if needed as more information becomes available, based on the guidance from federal and state authorities.
The Lesley Athletics department, Lesley University, and the New England Collegiate Conference will continue to monitor the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and make any necessary decisions needed to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of our student-athletes and staff are at the forefront.
