Baseball and Softball Announce 2019 Schedules

Cambridge, Mass.-- The Lesley University Baseball and Softball programs released their 2019 season schedules, as announced by both head coaches and the Sports Information Department.  Both teams head south on March 8th to kick off their respective seasons in Florida before opening the NECC conference slate at the end of the month.

The baseball team is coming off their best season in program history, earning program highs in overall wins (27) and conference wins (14), posting an overall record of 27-11.  After capturing the first NECC Championship in program history in 2017, the Lynx fell just shy of a repeat falling to Mitchell College in the Championship Game 7-4 last season.  The Lynx return All-New England Third Team selection Ryan Pumphret, who was also joined by Jacob Cervantes on the NECC All-Conference First Team, and two NECC All-Conference Second team members in Will Rhone and Steven DePalma.

The Lynx kick off the 2019 season at the Russ Matt Invitation in Auburndale, FL. on March 9th against St. Scholastica.  After the nine game stretch in Florida, they compete against competitive regional opponents in Curry College, Colby-Sawyer College, and Framingham State, on top of their NECC Conference slate.

After claiming the 2017 NECC Conference Championship and the 2018 Regular season title, the softball team fell short in playoffs and ended their season with a 22-13 overall record and 14-2 in conference play.  The Lynx posted one of the best team offensive years in program history, ending the season ranked 9th in NCAA DIII in team batting average (.364).  Lesley returns Sophomore Jordan Day, reigning NECC Rookie of the Year, NFCA All-Region Third Team, and NECC All-Conference Second Team selection.  Also returning is NECC All Conference First-Team selection Jordan Raab, and NECC Third-Team selection Riley Pickett.

Lesley softball opens the 2019 season in Fort Myers, FL. on March 9th at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.  The squad will compete in 10 games against a mix of opponents that will prepare them for the NECC conference slate and regional opponents through March and April. The Lynx post a strong non-conference schedule, including three NCAA Regional teams from last season in NESCAC powerhouse Tufts University, back to back MASCAC Champions Framingham State, and LEC Champions UMass Boston.
