Men's Basketball to Participate in 'Light the Night Walk'

On Saturday, October 3rd the Lesley University men’s basketball team will be participating in the “Light the Night Walk” at 5:00p at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, Mass. to help benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The “Light the Night Walk” helps fund the research of breakthrough therapies and treatments for patients, provides free patient educational materials, support programs and events, advances advocacy to ensure patient access to treatments, and helps provide one-on-one patient assistance through the LLS Information Resource Center.

This year, the Lesley men’s basketball program will hold a special bond with the “Light the Night Walk.” Treyvon, an expected incoming freshman member of the Lesley community and the 2015-16 men’s basketball program, was diagnosed with stage three Hodgkins Lymphoma just four days before move-in day. Instead of moving onto our Cambridge campus, Trey has started a rigorous eight week stint with chemotherapy.

“Our hearts sunk when we heard the news about Trey,” said Lynx head coach Chris Giordano. “Getting to know him through the recruiting process, we knew he would fit right in on campus and with our basketball family. We want to support him and his family as much as we can. Trey is an incredibly tough kid and this is just a bump in the road for him that he can overcome. We are looking forwardto seeing him and are excited for him to get back on the court."

The Lynx have set up a fundraising page through the LLS website that you can access by clicking here. Please donate to help the program reach their goal and support Treyvon and support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The walk on October 3rd will be at 5:00p at Lake Quannapowitt which is located at 1 Church Street, Wakefield, MA 01880. For more on the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, please click here
