CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley's 180 student-athletes were recognized and award-winners were honored at the Lynx 2011-12 Athletics Banquet.
Men's basketball senior guard John Sanchez and women's soccer senior forward and softball third base player Jenna Fralick were named Lesley Men's and Women's Athlete of the Year, respectively. Sanchez was named All-New England Collegiate Conference First Team for a second straight year, surpassing the 1,100-point landmark for his three-year career in Cambridge. Fralick, meanwhile, was named to the All-NECC Women's Soccer First Team for the third time in 2011.
Baseball's Tyler Plourd and softball's Allison Fountain were named Lesley Rookie Athletes of the Year. Plourd led the team with a .380 batting average and 17 RBI's, and Fountain led the NECC with 28 runs scored in league games, finishing second in the conference with a .588 on-base percentage and third with 21 RBI’s in league play.
Senior women's soccer tri-captain Bridget Rundquist was the recipient of the John Micelin "55 Alive" award, which is given annually to a senior student-athlete who embodies "qualities paramount to John’s legacy; care for his teammates, sportsmanship, and respect for everyone in the Lesley University community."
