Four student-athletes earn NECC Weekly honors

WOMEN’S SOCCER

PLAYER OF THE WEEK —Lesley University senior forward Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) led the Lynx to an undefeated season earning them the #1 seed in the NECC tournament. Fralick propelled her team to a 3-0 conference shut-out week including notching her 29th goal of the season marking her most significant milestone reaching her 100th collegiate goal at Lesley. She became the 15th player in NCAA Division III women’s soccer history to accomplish this feat in her final regular season match in a 3-0 sweep of Bay Path. The Lynx also defeated Wheelock 5-0 and Newbury 4-0. Fralick finished the week with seven goals including two hat-tricks.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK — Becker College freshman forward Caroline Plunkett (Rockaway, N.Y.) topped the Hawks helping them to a 2-0 conference week. Plunkett tallied six goals for 12 points in a 3-1 win over Bay Path and in a7-0 sweep of Newbury including an amazing four goals against the Nighthawks.

MEN’S SOCCER

PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Mitchell College sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Woodford (Clinton, Conn.) was a key factor in a 1-1 week for the Mariners allowing only one goal in his 180 minutes of play. Woodford faced 29 shots and 14 shots on goal making 13 saves for Mitchell. In a tough 1-0 loss to Becker had nine saves, while notching a shut-out against Southern Vermont securing a post-season berth in the 2009 NECC tournament. For the year, Woodford only allowed five goals against in conference play

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK- Lesley University freshman forward Darius Koep (Pittstown, N.J.) played the major role in the 1-0 win over NECC foe Daniel Webster netting the game winner on senior night for the Lynx. That win helped solidify Lesley’s #2 seed heading into playoffs earning the first round bye for the Lynx. Lesley went 2-0 on the week also defeating TCCC opponent Curry College 1-0.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK- For the second straight week, Elms College freshman forward Tavish Leland (Bridgton, Maine) earned NECC Rookie honors. He played the major role in the 2-1 win over NECC opponent Becker. Leland nailed the game winner in a thrilling victory over the Hawks. Elms finished 1-1 on the week losing a tough fought overtime battle 3-2 against Rivier.

VOLLEYBALL

PLAYER OF THE WEEK —Lesley University freshman middle blocker Amanda McCracken (Eldersburg, Md.) tallied an amazing .459 attack percentage guiding the Lynx to another 3-0 week including two conference victories. McCracken tallied 37 kills (3.36 per set), two assists (0.18 per set), 10 service aces (0.91 per set), 16 digs (1.45 per set) and seven blocks (0.64 per set).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK —Fellow Lynx, Lesley University freshman setter Kaitlyn Miller (Leesport, Penn.) guided her team to a 3-0 week setting up an amazing team hitting percentage of .296 including a .404 attack percentage against Southern Vermont. Miller tallied 65 assists en route to a 3-1 victory over Simmons, 3-1 victory over Elms and a 3-0 sweep of the Mountaineers. For the week, she had four kills (0.36 per set), 65 assists (5.91 per set), four service aces (0.36 per set), 16 digs (1.45 per set) and one block (0.09 per set).
