Six Lynx student-athletes earn NECC honors this week

WOMEN'S SOCCER

PLAYER OF THE WEEK -Lesley University senior forward Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) led her team to a 2-1 week, scoring five goals and ten points for the Lynx, including two victories over programs that they have never beaten in the program's history. Despite a tough loss to UMass Boston 2-1 in double overtime, Fralick tallied the lone goal. In a 3-0 sweep of UMaine Farmington, she netted two including the game winner. Against NECC rival Elms, Fralick came back with vengeance finding the back of the net twice including the game winner.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Lesley University freshman midfielder Kate Ryder (Glastonbury, Conn.) tallied three points for the Lynx helping them to a 2-1 week. Ryder had an assist in a 3-0 sweep of UMaine Farmington and a goal in a 3-0 sweep of NECC opponent Elms.

MEN'S SOCCER

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Daniel Webster College sophomore forward Alex Jackson (Kent, Ohio) led his team to a 2-0 undefeated week. Jackson was involved in both goals in a 2-1 victory over Suffolk including the game winner and an assist on the tying goal. She also tallied a goal in a 4-2 win over NECC rival Becker. For the week, Jackson had five points.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK- Lesley University freshman midfielder Ari Sinanis (Guilford, Conn.) recorded three points for the Lynx. Sinanis helped Lesley to a 2-0 week scoring a goal in a 4-2 victory over Emerson. He also notched an assist in a 4-0 sweep of NECC opponent Elms.

FIELD HOCKEY

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Wheelock College junior forward Milbrey Hendrix (Kennett Square, Penn.) helped the Wildcats to their first victory, going 1-2 on the week. Hendrix notched an assist in a heart-breaking 2-1 loss to 2008 NECC Champs Becker. Milbrey was the high scorer in a 7-0 sweep of fellow NECC opponent Bay Path tallying two goals and one assist.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK -Becker College freshman forward Brooke Cote (Fitchburg, Mass.) led the team to a 2-0 weekly conference record, defeating Wheelock 2-1 and Daniel Webster 1-0. Cote netted both goals including the game winner over Wheelock.

VOLLEYBALL

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Elms College senior setter/outside hitter Jen Rego (Fall River, Mass.) led the Blazers to a 1-1 week, defeating Mt. Holyoke 3-1 and falling to UMass Dartmouth 1-3. Rego notched 12 kills, 17 assists, and 21 digs for the seven sets. In the victory over Mt. Holyoke she hit .296 grabbing a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs. For the week, Rego tallied 1.71 kills (per set), 2.43 assists (per set), 0.29 service aces (per set) and 3.00 digs (per set).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - For the second straight time, Daniel Webster College freshman outside hitter Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) was named NECC Rookie of the Week.  Crawford managed a .300 hitting percentage for a 2-1 week for the Eagles. She tallied 17 kills (1.89 per set), five service aces (0.50 per set), three digs (0.30 per set) and four block assists (0.44 per set). 

WOMEN'S TENNIS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Bay Path College sophomore Sarah Costa (Tiverton, R.I) led the Wildcats to a 2-0 weekly NECC record, defeating Mitchell 8-1 and Lesley 7-2. Costa easily defeated her opponents at #3 singles 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1, while partnering with teammate Cristina Ruiz in the #2 doubles spot and winning 8-2 in both matches.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Becker College sophomore Laura Mimms (Ashland, Mass.) helped the Hawks to a 2-0 weekly NECC record, defeating Lesley 6-2 and Newbury 7-2. Mimms went undefeated on the week at the #2 singles and #2 doubles. Against Lesley, she won 6-2, 6-1 and won 8-5 in doubles action. Against Newbury, Mimms won 6-3, 6-1 and shut down her doubles opponent 8-0.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

RUNNER OF THE WEEK - For the second straight week, Lesley University freshman Noa Kupfer (Woodbridge, Mass.) was awarded runner of the week honors. She finished 2nd out of 83 runners in the Blazers 5K Invitational.  Kupfer crossed the finish line with a 19:44 time. She was only two seconds shy of the winner's time. Kupfer led her team to a 3rd place finish with a 61team score , better than any NECC participant.

RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Wheelock College senior Kate Needham (North Conway, N.H.) led the Wildcats to a 5th place finish recording her personal best 5K time of 22:59, shaving close to a minute off her time. Needham placed 28th out of 83 harriers, topping her team with a 150 team score at the Blazers' Invitational.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Lesley University freshman Jess Arnold (Hilton, N.Y.) finished 11th with a 21:35 5K time at the Blazers Invitational.  She was the second Lady Lynx to cross through the gate helping her team to a 3rd place finish with a 61team score better than any NECC participant.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

RUNNER OF THE WEEK - For the fourth straight week, Lesley University senior Fran Cusick (Lexington, Mass.) was awarded the NECC Runner of the Week honors.  Cusick crossed the line 2nd out of 52 harriers with an 8K time of 27:12 . The Lynx placed 3rd  out of 7 teams with a 68 score.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Newbury College freshman Gabriel Nunez (Jersey City, N.J.) was awarded the NECC rookie honors for the third time. He clocked a 29:29 time over an 8K course finishing 5th at the Blazer Invitational. Newbury placed fifth with a 126 team score.

GOLF

GOLFER OF THE WEEK - Babson College sophomore Camilio Perlaza (Cali, Colombia) shot a 156 (77-79) to tie for 20th place at the Duke Nelson Invitational. Perlaza led his team to a 13th place finish out of 21 teams with a team score of 322-328=650.
