WOMEN'S SOCCER

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Daniel Webster sophomore forward Kacie Lang (Raymond, N.H.) notched six points on a 1-0 opening week for the Eagles. Lang tallied a hat trick for the Eagles, netting all of her team's goals in a 3-0 shutout of regional foe Regis. This was Daniel Webster's first season-opening win since the 2006 campaign.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Newbury College freshman forward Ashley Guy (Northfield, R.I.) led the Nighthawks to a 1-0 week, shutting down Mass. Maritime 2-0 in their season opener. Guy had a foot in both goals scored, recording two assists in her inaugural ninety minutes of collegiate play.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Lesley University freshman midfielder Katherine Bradley (Colchester, Conn.)  notched the game winner and her first collegiate goal in a 1-0 win over Mount Ida. The Lynx went 2-0 for their opening week, also defeating Eastern Nazarene 3-0.

MEN'S SOCCER

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lesley junior striker Tyler Reeves (Coventry, Conn.) was the key factor in the Lynx' best start in program history with a 2-0 opening week. In a 2-0 win over Eastern Nazarene, Reeves netted the final goal of the game. In a 2-1 overtime victory over Mount Ida, Reeves assisted on the game winning goal to defeat the Mustangs for the first time in program history. Reeves tallied three points for his 179 minutes played.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Fellow Lesley University baller, freshman midfielder Ari Sinanis (Guilford, Conn.) contributed to the Lynx' best start in program history with a 2-0 opening week. Sinaris totaled five points for the week, scoring the game winner in the 2-0 win over Eastern Nazarene. He responded with the assist on the game tying point against Mount Ida, and later netted the game winner for the Lynx.

FIELD HOCKEY

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Wheelock College junior goalkeeper Meredith Race (Marion, Mass.) opened the 2009 campaign with the Wildcats going 0-2 on the week. Despite the two losses, Race prevented the games from becoming a scorefest, notching 30 saves in the two contests. Race allowed only two goals scored against Western Connecticut State while picking up 15 saves in their season opener.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK -None this week

VOLLEYBALL

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Newbury College sophomore outside hitter Tricia Corriveau (Coventry, R.I.) earned the Nighthawks their 2-0 opening week sweep. Corriveau swung her way to a weekly .414 hitting percentage. She tallied ten kills, four digs and two assists for the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Fellow Newbury College freshman outside hitter Sara Hanna (Center Moriches, N.Y.) led her team for the week with 12 kills, seven digs and eight service aces en route to a 2-0 opening week. In a 3-1 win against Albertus Magnus, she notched a .466 attack percentage, while coming back for a 3-0 sweep of Anna Maria swinging her way to an amazing .555 attack percentage. For the week, she totaled a .515 hitting percentage, 1.7 kills per set, 1.1 aces per set and 1.0 digs per set.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Newbury College junior Stephanie Valentine (Pleasant Valley, Conn.) led her team to a 1-0 opening week. Valentine notched a 6-2, 7-6 (4) tie break win at the #5 singles position to edge the Nighthawks to a 5-4 victory over Worcester State.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Lesley University freshman Courtney Mullen (Springfield, Ore.) opened up her collegiate career in impressive win over Mount Ida 7-2. Mullen took her #1 singles match 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) in a tie break victory over Jessica Linquist, while teaming with Lynx partner Jillian Zingale at the #2 doubles for a 8-2 win.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Newbury College junior Alaina Fillback (Portland, Conn.) finished 26th overall in the "Early Bird" Open 5K. Her 5K time of 28:54 helped her team to a great start amongst collegiate women Fillback placed 18th.

ROOKIE RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Lesley University freshman Noa Kupfer (Woodbridge, Conn.) opened up her collegiate career on a high note placing first in a 2.5 mile race at Fresh Pond vs. Lassell College. Kupfer tallied a 16:35 time going 6:38 per mile pace.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

RUNNER OF THE WEEK - Lesley University senior Fran Cusick (Lexington, Mass.) took home first place honors with a winning time of 27:33 crossing the finish line a minute and eleven seconds sooner than the second place finisher.  In the 8K race at Fresh Pond against Lasell College Cusick raced a 5:30 mile pace.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Newbury College freshman Kevin Gordon (Stafford, Conn.) garners NECC rookie honors. He clocked a 29:37 time over a 5K to a 31st place finish in the "Early Bird" Co-Ed Open 5K.
