GAME OVERVIEW:

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College took advantage of a strong service game as well as a solid offensive effort, sweeping Lesley University, 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-15), Thursday evening in a non-conference women's collegiate volleyball match at Higgins Court.  With the Loss Lesley slips to 1-8, while the Pride improve to 7-4.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Cassidy Wygonik led the Lynx with six kills, one service ace, and seven digs.  Lesley setter Tallin Goldberg ended up with 11 assists, three kills, and six digs, while Maile Counts earned five kills and Ashley Keeney added seven digs to the Lynx's defensive effort. However, the visitors had more attack errors (23) than kills (18) and allowed Regis to earn 13 service aces.
  • Katryna Veasey led the Pride with 13 kills and nine digs, including seven kills and five digs in the third set, as she hit .321 in the match and also earned two service aces.  The Pride committed only 10 attack errors, a season low as the team finished with a .241 hitting percentage

  • After committing a service error on the first point, Regis scored the next six points to open the match. The Pride maintained a healthy lead throughout the opening set, clinching it on kills by Veasey and MacKenzie Emco.

  • Lesley scored four straight points early in the second set, capped by an ace from Nicole Pietrocola, and then went on a 5-0 scoring run, starting with consecutive kills by Wygonik, to open a 13-8 lead. Down 17-12 after another Wygonik kill, Regis rallied from behind, closing out the second set with a 13-2 scoring run

  • A service ace by Lesley's Teresa Imbsweiler tied the third set at 6-6, but Regis responded by winning eight of the next nine points to pull ahead, 14-7. The Pride kept the Lynx at arm's length to complete the sweep.
