GAME OVERVIEW:
Dudley, Mass.-- The Lesley Women's Volleyball team dropped both matches in the Nichols College tri-match against the Bisons and Southern Vermont College in two 3-0 decisions. With the loss, Lesley slips to 1-4 overall.
VS SOUTHERN VERMONT
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountaineers swept the Lynx in 3 sets with scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 25-18.
- Freshman Maile Counts let the Lynx with 8 kills, 7 assists, 4 service aces, and 6 digs, while sophomore Tallin Goldberg served up 8 assists in the match.
- SVC opened the first set on a 8-2 run and force a Lynx timeout. Merceidiz Diaz sparked Lesley out of the quick break with a kill, but the Mountaineers extended their margin 12-6 off two Lynx errors.
- Lesley was never able to get within five points the rest of the match for a SVC set one win.
- A couple points from Counts and a kill from Cassidy Wygonik gave Lesley an early 7-5 lead to open the second set.
- A big 11-2 run from SVC in middle of the set gave them all they needed to claim the 25-15 win.
- Lesley took an early 5-4 lead in the final set, but another 11-1 run from the Mountaineers a 15-6 lead, en route to the match victory in 3 sets.
VS NICHOLS
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- In the night cap, the Lynx fell in three straight sets to the Bisons 25-21,25-12, and 25-29.
- The Lynx were led by Cassidy Wygonik and Teresa Imbsweiler with 6 kills a piece, and Maile Counts who tallied 13 assists and 7 digs.
- An attack error by the Bisons evened the score a 8-8, and the two teams battled back and forth points exchanging the lead.
- A quick 3 points by the Bison to make it 18-15 sparked the momentum needed and never let the Lynx even the score again the remainder of the set.
- The Bisons opened up the second set on an 11-2 run and never looked back for a 25-12 set two win.
- The final set saw similar action to the second with Nichol's starting on a 9-2 run.
- Lelsey was only able to get within 6 points of the Bisons on two separate occassions but couldn't string any runs together.
