Women's Volleyball Tripped Up By St. Joseph's

STANDISH, Maine – The Lesley University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road this afternoon to host St. Joseph's College (Maine). The Monks used set scores of 25-13, 25-22, and 25-15 to improve to 1-1 on the season while the Lynx fall to 2-3 overall.

Saint Joseph's kicked off the match with eight unanswered points in the opening set en route to a 25-13 triumph and trailed by as many as six points before rallying to a 25-22 win in the second set. The Monks polished off the team's first victory with a dominant 25-15 third set triumph, which was punctuated with a kill from freshman Chatham Mills (Gorham, Maine).

Lesley junior Kaylee Deluga (Dennis, Mass.) tied a career-high with 21 digs to go with eight kills while freshman Kelsey Dobbins (Henniker, N.H.) set a personal-best with five kills. Junior Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) added four kills and 17 digs and senior Jessica Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) finished with 13 digs on the defensive side. Fellow senior Vera Bednar (Helmond, Netherlands) totaled ten assists and eight digs.

S. Joseph's senior Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) recorded a double-double 12 kills and 15 digs while classmate Shadai Gosselin (Somersworth, N.H.) added five kills, three aces, and 11 digs. Sophomore Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) finished with a team-high 17 digs while Sarah Dyer (Seabrook, N.H.) and Emma Tirrell (Scarborough, Maine) added 13 and ten assists, respectively.

Lesley is off until next Saturday when the Lynx compete in a tri-match with Worcester State at Wentworth. Saint Joseph's is back in action on Tuesday night when the Monks play at University of New England in a 6:30 PM start.
