Lynx Improve to 3-0 in NECC

Cambridge, Mass— Saturday evening was a battle of the undefeated teams in the young NECC Conference standings between Bay Path University and Lesley University.   The Lynx were able to strike three times in the first half and never looked back securing the win 5-0.  With the loss, Bay Path slips to 6-2-1 (3-1 NECC) and Lesley improves to 7-2-2 (3-0 NECC).

Lesley controlled the pace most of the first half and lead the Wildcats in shots.  The Lynx broke the even score in the 25th minute of play when Junior Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, TX) dribbled the ball down the left wing and crossed it to the wide open middle of the field.  Junior Forward Samantha Bessey (Algonquin, IL) found space and connected with Mitchell's ball for a header and the goal.

The Lynx scored twice more within a few minutes of each other and ended the half 3-0.  Mitchell sent another ball from midfield and Junior Xaelel Allen-Caballero out hustled the defense and beat the charging Wildcat goalie for an easy goal.  Three minutes later Junior McKenna Straube (Junction City, OR) crossed a ball to the top of the eighteen for a one touch blast from Junior Rachel Buckley (San Diego, CA).

Lesley kept up the offensive threat from the start of the second half and scored in the 53rd minute of play.  Freshman Julia Cohn (Farmington ,CT) one timed a rebound and sent it past the diving goalie.  Buckley tallied another assist on the night with a crisp pass to freshman Ruby Hill (Manhattan Beach, CA) just outside the eighteen.  Hill left the goalie with no chance hitting the top right corner of the net.

Bay Path Goaltender Caitlin Esposito had 13 saves, including many diving stops to keep Lesley from scoring.  The Lynx outshot the the Wildcats 28-4.

Lesley travels to Dean College Wednesday, October 11th while Bay Path hosts Becker College, both NECC contests.
