Conference Win Streak Runs to 55 as Women's Soccer Trounces Bay Path

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's soccer team extended their New England Collegiate Conference regular season win streak to 55 matches with a 6-0 drubbing of Bay Path University this afternoon on Edward Field. The win pushes the Lynx to 8-5-0 overall and a perfect 3-0-0 in NECC play while the Wildcats fall to 4-7-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in conference matches.

The Lynx outshot the Wildcats by an 18-2 margin on the day and found the back of the net three times in each half to earn their fourth shutout of the season.

Lesley sophomore Sarah Pochobradsky (Rotterdam, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the ninth minute of the game with the first goal of her career to give the Lynx an early 1-0 lead.

Lynx junior Tori Ramirez (Redwood City, Calif.) followed later in the half with a pair of goals just 1:59 apart. Ramirez deposited the first goal of her career at 33:26 before wasting little time to add number two to her ledger as she put the hosts up 3-0 with her second strike at 35:25.

Lesley continued their scoring output just seven minutes into the second half as senior Hayley Wirth (Escondido, Calif.) buried her fourth of the season on an assist by freshman Kai Morehead (Oxnard, Calif.).

Rookies Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, Texas) and Samantha Bessey (Algonquin, Ill.) capped the scoring for the Lynx with goals at 69:35 and 72:50, respectively. Mitchell notched her team-leading fifth goal of the season before getting credit for the assist on Bessey's second tally of the year.

Lynx keeper Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) earned her fourth win of the season while playing the opening 45-minutes before being relieved by freshman Kailee Hall (Carlsbad, Calif.) in the second half. Wildcats goalie Kristen Lynch (Belchertown, Mass.) made four saves in the loss.

Lesley will return to New England Collegiate Conference play in a Columbus Day matinee at Regis College on Monday. Kickoff is slated for 1:00p.
