Lesley improves to 3-0 on the season

BROOKLINE, Mass. - The Lesley Lynx improved to 3-0, their best start ever, as they trounced Pine Manor College 7-0.

The Lynx got a flurry of offense as they netted their seven goals on 28 shots.  Lauren Mastellone (Howell, N.J.) led Lesley with four goals, her first as a collegiate player.  The freshman also led the team in shots with 13.  Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) continued her stellar season as she scored twice for the Lynx, on eight shots.  Freshman striker, Christina Corso (Shorham, N.Y.), added a goal of her own to cap off the dominating performance by Lesley.

Lesley got rolling early as Fralick netted a goal just six minutes and 45 seconds into the first half.  Lani Cabral-Pini (Willmington, Mass.) was credited with her first of two assists on the first Fralick goal.  Mastellone then took over as she scored at the 16:14 mark, the 46:36 mark and the 53:16 mark.  Mastellone was assisted on her three consecutive goals by Molly Lawrence (Spingvale, Me.), Margaret Surrena (Vestal, N.Y.) and Cabral-Pini.  Fralick then scored, unassisted, at the 59:07 mark to put Lesley up 5-0.  Mastellone and Corso closed out the game with unassisted goals at 60:53 and 64:22.

The Lynx defense was also an absolute force as they did not allow a goal or a shot by the Pine Manor Offense.  "With all the goals that we have scored this year it is easy for people to focus more on our offense than our defense," commented Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos.  "However, to allow just one goal in three games is also quite an accomplishment.  Our defense and our keeper, Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) have been our backbone this whole season, and our success is contingent on their continued great play."
