Lynx Come From Behind for Thrilling Win Over Wildcats

GAME OVERVIEW:

MEDFORD, MA. -- The Lesley women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 59-54 comeback win against Bay Path University. The Lynx move up to 1-16 on the season and 1-12 in conference play, while the Wildcats fall to 2-19 overall and 1-12 in the conference.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Bay Path was in control for the early part of the game. Emmeline Bronson had 20 of her 26 total points in the first half and Arryana Townsend had 10 of her 12 in the first two quarters as well.
  • The Lynx struggled to get shots to fall early, shooting only 24% in the first half. The Wildcats entered halftime with a ten point lead, with Bronson's 50% shooting from beyond the arc keeping them ahead.
  • Dakota Jones was only able to score ten points for the Lynx in the first half, with the Wildcats often double and triple-teaming her in the paint. She still managed to grab ten first half rebounds while Sydnie Drezek ran the offense.
  • The Lynx came into the fourth quarter down by nine, but were able to get the Wildcats into foul trouble quickly. Bronson, Nyasia Reeves, and Diane Almonte Arias all fouled out with plenty of time left in the quarter for the Lynx to take advantage.
  • Heaven Rodriguez was left to control the offense for Bay Path and she performed well, putting up ten points, nine assists, and six steals on the night.
  • Tallin Goldberg turned up the defense in the final quarter, helping the Lynx force ten Bay Path turnovers. Drezek was able to convert the turnovers into eight free throws over the final two minutes of the game to put the Lynx ahead for good. Lesley outscored Bay Path 22 to 6 in the final quarter of the game.
  • Drezek took advantage of the attention paid to Jones and put up 35 points, while securing twelve rebounds. She was a perfect 17 for 17 from the free throw line. Jones finished with 19 points and 20 rebounds, ten offensive and ten defensive. Alex Torres also added ten rebounds for the Lynx.
  • Lesley was able to take advantage of mistakes by Bay Path by scoring 18 points off of their turnovers. They also dominated the glass on both ends; the Lynx outrebounded the Wildcats overall 47 to 29 and were able to score 20 second-chance points, to Bay Path's 4.
