Clough, RPI Bests Women's Basketball in Final Day of Tournament

NORTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women's basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the year after a 80-31 setback to RPI in the final day of the Cheryl Warren-Powers '95 Memorial Tournament at Emerson Gymnasium on the Wheaton College campus. RPI, who dropped a 75-68 decision to Trinity College last night, improves to 1-1 on the year.

Engineers sophomore Ashley Clough (West Chesterfield, N.H.) led the way, notching a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. Junior guard Amanda Lynch (Middletown, N.Y.) chipped in with 15 points, going 6-of-10 from the floor while senior co-captain came off the bench to score ten points.

Leading the way for the Lynx was freshman forward Belen Garcia-Clark (Bristol, Conn.) who nearly amassed a double-double, posting nine points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Ari Dimou (Manchester, N.H.) chipped in with eight points, on 4-of-8 shooting, to go with her six rebounds while Jackie Ewing (Hong Kong) also had eight points for Lesley.

The Engineers forced 35 turnovers while holding the Lynx to just 25-percent shooting. RPI also held a distinct 58-33 rebounding edge.

Lynch and Ewing were each named to the All-Tournament team.

Lesley will be back in action on Saturday, November 23rd when they travel to Vermont Tech for a non-conference matchup.
