Babson registers big first half in win over Lesley


BABSON PARK, Mass. - In the first half of the game between Babson College and Lesley University, the Beavers outscored the Lynx 40-13 in the final 16 minutes to take a commanding lead that they would not relinquish.  Babson would go on to win 84-54 to improve their 2008 record to 2-1 while Lesley drops to 1-2.

The Lynx got a game-high 18 points from Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) who recorded a couple of conventional three-point plays to get an early 8-6 lead.  Wechsler also led Lesley with five rebounds.

Babson, however, went on a 22-5 run over the next 10 minutes to gain control of the game.  Nicole Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) scored eight of her team-high 15 points during this span. 

Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) tied Wurdeman with 15 points and sophomores Becky Bowman (Melrose, Mass.) and Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) added 14 points a piece in the victory. 

Lesley got contributions from Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) and Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.).  Lowe tallied 12 points, four rebounds, and four blocked shots while Caira added 11 points and three blocks in the game.

The Lynx will travel to Bridgewater State College on Saturday, December 6 for a 1:00 pm game.  Babson will host Framingham State College on December 2 at 6:00 pm.
