Farmington tops Lesley, 53-41

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In a North Atlantic Conference match up against UMaine-Farmington, the Lesley University women's basketball was defeated 53-41.  The loss drops the Lynx record to 10-9 (4-4 NAC) while the Beavers improved to 9-10 (6-3 NAC).

Lesley received a quality performance from Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) who finished the game with 13 points and eight rebounds.  The only other double-digit scorer for the Lynx was Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) who had 11 points.  Freshman Cassidy Freed (Brattleboro, Vt.) dominated the offensive glass for the Lynx as she had 15 rebounds, 11 of them were offensive. 

The Beavers were led by junior guard Erin Porter (Bangor, Me.) who had a game-high 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor include 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.  She almost completed the double-double, grabbing nine rebounds in the game.  Erin Johnson (Bailey, Island, Me.) did finish with a double-double, as she tallied 10 points and 17 rebounds on the night. 

UMaine-Farmington jumped out to an early 15-2 lead thanks to great passing from Amanda Byrne (Winslow, Me.) who had three assists during the run.  The Lynx were able to chip away at the early lead and finished the half down just eight points at 29-21. 

The Beavers maintained their lead in the second half as they forced 14 turnovers.  Lesley's opponents were able to convert 25 turnovers into 20 points for the game.  A late basket and free throws by Porter solidified the win for UMaine-Farmington.

Lesley will next face Thomas College at home on Saturday February 9 at 2:00 p.m. UMaine-Farmington will continue their road trip and visit Wheelock College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
