Volleyball Ends Season with Loss to Nationally-Ranked Elms

Chicopee, MA. - Lesley University men's volleyball ended its season with a 3-0 loss to nationally ranked No. 7 Elms College on Saturday afternoon at Picknelly Arena on the campus of Elms. The Blazers took the match in straight sets with scores of 25-5, 25-5, and 25-5. The Lynx finish with a 2-17 overall record, and 0-14 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play. Meanwhile, the Blazers finish its regular season at to 27-4 overall and 13-1 in NECC action.

LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Alexander Genova (Groton, CT.) showed his ability to play both sides of the ball, leading the Lynx with five kills and while adding five digs. 
  • John Gersbeck (Westerly, R.I.) paced the Lynx with five assists.
  • Meanwhile, Armando Bahena (Quincy, MA.) was the leader defensivly with eight digs. Gersbeck and Steven Newman (Natick, MA.) contibuted on defense with four and three digs respectively.

Lesley (2-17, 0-14) finish season under first year head coach Nile Fox, most wins for the Lynx in a single season since 2013. The Blazers (27-4, 13-1) secured the No. 1 seed and are set for the 2019 NEEC Men's Volleyball Tournment semifinal on Thursday, April 11th, against the winner of #5 Newbury College and #5 Eastern Nazarene College.
