Fleming Finishes In Top 10 of 100-Meter Dash at Smith College Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Sophomore Mike Fleming (Southwick, Mass.) finished in the top 10 of the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 11.97 at the Smith College Invitational. Fleming was one of five runners to post personal bests at the western Massachusetts track and field meet.

Three Lynx saw their individual personal records go down in the 800-meter dash. In the last 200 meters sophomore Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) passed an opposing runner 20-meters in front of her to finish with a time of 2:56.84. Senior runner Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) was right behind her running a personal best of 2.58.34 - .5 better than the Castleton University runner Eleanor Baldauf. First year Beth Caronna (Longmeadow, Mass.) rounded out the Lynx in the 800 by beating her time from the Tufts Snowflake classing finishing with a time of 3:05.43.

Footer also competed in the 1500-meter for the Lynx where she ran a strong pace with a time of 5:55.25. Junior Jordan Penney (Eliot, Maine) finished first in her heat in the 200-meter for the second straight week, recording a personal best time of 29.43.

In addition to competing in the 100-meter dash on the men's side, Fleming also participated in the long jump where he tied for seventh out of 24 jumpers with a distance of 5.74 meters – 18 feet 10 inches. He also competed in the 200-meter where he finished with a time of 24.66.  

The Lynx have a three-week break before they return to the track for their final meet of the 2017 season at the Regis College Pride Classic in Weston, Mass. on Saturday May 6th
