CASTLETON, Vt. - Bennett Laderoute scored his first collegiate
goal, which proved to be the game winner in a 2-0 conference
victory over Lesley University.
Laderoute sent home a rebound after Ryan Hahn rocked the post in
the 35th minute. The score would remain 1-0 thanks to some fine
play by both keepers. Lesley's Zach Almeida-Beers
(Rehoboth, Mass.) made six saves in the game,
including one late in the first half to preserve the 1-0 deficit at
halftime.
The Spartans nearly found themselves trailing just 6:10 into the
contest when a Nicholas Pedrick (Ipswich, Mass.)
shot slipped past Castleton keeper, Mike Anthony. Just as the ball
was about to cross the goal line a sprinting Corey Robbins kicked
the ball away to preserve to 0-0 tie.
Hahn would tack on an insurance goal in the 75th minute, after a
through ball put him one-on-one with Almeida-Beers. Hahn made a
slick move past the keeper and touched the ball in for his fourth
goal on the season.
Anthony ended up with three saves in the shut-out victory as
Castleton improves to 9-5 overall and a conference best 5-1 in the
NAC. Lesley falls to 6-7-1 (3-4 NAC) with the loss.
