Donald Morris began his collegiate coaching career at Lesley University as an assistant coach during the 2006-07 season and took over a year later as the head coach.
In his time at Lesley, he has had six players receive professional playing contracts, coached the first All-American in Lesley program history, and had players win the National Founders Award and been named Regional Scholar Baller.
As a former Lynx player, Morris brings a firm grasp and
knowledge of Lesley University and the Greater New England Area
recruiting scene. In just his first season, he led his 2007-08 team
to the North Atlantic Conference championship game through his
tireless recruiting efforts and on-court skill development.
Morris started his coaching career with the AAU Bay State Jaguars,
which he guided to a berth in the YBOA Nationals. Before joining
the Lynx, Morris was a volunteer assistant at Newbury
College. He has coached at exclusive basketball camps such as
Five Star, Red Auerbach School, Boston Celtics Camp, Dana Barros
Camp, and has worked with staff members from the Minnesota
Timberwolves, Orlando Magic, and Maine Red Claws. He has also led
the New England Bay State Games team to a gold medal. He enjoys
working with youth players and is currently the boys' basketball
coach at the Shady Hill School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Through his Basketball 2 the Limit program, he has sent
over 100 players to colleges and schools around the country.
Morris began his basketball career as a four year starter at
nearby Somerville (MA) High School. During his four years at SHS,
Donald was team MVP and defensive player of the year. He was a
two-time G.B.L. All Star and was named as one of the "preseason
players to watch" by The Boston Globe and Boston
Herald. He graduated from SHS with a scholarship from Notre
Dame Prep, one of the top prep schools in New England.
He graduated from NDP and received a full scholarship to Dean College, where he was a two-year captain, team MVP, and an all-conference nominee. Morris then played at Southern New Hampshire University prior to playing for and graduating from Lesley.
Following his collegiate basketball career, he was invited to
try out for several American Basketball Association teams including
the Boston Frenzy, New Jersey Express, and the Manchester
Millrats.
Coach Morris' education includes an associate's degree in sports
management from Dean College and a bachelor's degree in sports
management from Lesley University.
