NECC Tournament: #3 Lynx Conclude 2019 Season With Loss against #4 Eastern Nazarene

New London, CT. – #3 Lesley baseball were eliminated from New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament after a 14-5 loss against #4 Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field on the campus of Mitchell College. The Lynx finish season with an overall record of 12-25. Eastern Nazarene improved its record to 21-18 on the year.

LESLEY HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The Lynx would post the game's first runs in the third inning. After two Lynx walked, Nicholas Ferragine (Randolph, N.J.) singled to the opposite field to score Leo DiGuilio (Bradley Beach, N.J.) from second. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, Javi Martinez (Chelsea, MA.) singled into left field to score another run for Lesley. Ryan Pumphret (Shrewsbury, MA.) followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring another run.
  • After three full innings, Lesley had control of a 3-0 score line. However, the Lions would respond with seven runs in the next half inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead. Lesley would respond in the bottom of the fourth with a run from a Ferragine single with the bases loaded.
  • The Lions would go on to control the rest the game, as they held the Lynx offense and put together seven more runs over the remaining five innings. Lesley would get a consolation run as Pumphret homered down the left field line in the bottom of the ninth inning.
  • Eastern Nazarene would advance after a 14-5 final over Lesley.
  • Jonathan Truscott (Dudley, MA.) takes the loss allowing seven runs in 3.2 innings of work.
  • Lesley put up nine hits on the day. Ferragine led the effort with three, while Pumphret, Martinez, and, and Matt Bavaro (Sayville, N.Y.) each posted two hits. The Lions out hit the Lynx 18 to nine in the contest.
  • Pumphret and Daniel O'Donnell Jr. (Clark, N.J.) were both named to the All-Tournament team. 

UP NEXT:

The Lynx (12-25) finish season under interim head coach Tony Anino with nine graduating seniors. Eastern Nazarene College (21-18) advanced to take on loser of New England College and Mitchell College.
